The wireless units are
supplied in two models which are identical except for their antennas. The
standard units are supplied with two integral 2 dBi omni-directional antennas.
These antennas are intended for indoor installations with short to medium
distances between sites.
The "D" model products are supplied with two customized
female connectors for use with indoor or outdoor antennas.
Indoor Antennas Omni-5
Long range indoor coverage. The Omni-5, 5 dBi, omni-directional antennas are used in pairs and come standard on the BreezeNET DS.11 Access Point and Station Adapter. They
are also an option for longer range indoor use with the BreezeNET PRO.11
D Model bridges.
OMNI-6
Extending indoor range
of access points and station adapters. The OMNI-6, 6 dBi, omni-directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET PRO.11 D Model Bridges and DS.11
Outdoor Bridges for long range indoor applications.
The OMNI-6 antenna attaches
to the female connector on the PRO.11 D Model Bridges and the DS.11 Outdoor
Bridges and provides 360 degree horizontal/20 degree vertical transmission.
Uni-8.5
The 8.5 dBi antenna has
a wide beam width (75 degrees horizontal, 60 degrees vertical) and is intended
for both indoor & outdoor installation. The UNI-8.5, 8.5 dBi, directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET PRO.11 D Model Bridges and DS.11
Outdoor Bridges. It is primarily designed for long range indoor applications,
such as large warehouses and retail stores.
Outdoor Antennas & Rooftop Installations
MMCX-2
Long range PC Card applications.
The MMCX-2, 2 dBi, omni-directional antennas come in pairs and are used
with the BreezeNET PRO.11 SA-PCR PC Card for long range outdoor applications.
In addition they can be used in harsh indoor environments such as warehouses,
airports, and large storage areas where range can be affected by too much
multipath propagation.
MOBL-5
The MOBL-5, 5 dBi, omni-directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET SA-PCR PRO.11 PC Card for vehicular
or highly mobile applications. The MOBL-5 antenna attaches to the female
connector on the PRO.11 PC Card and provides, 360 degree horizontal/25
degree vertical transmission. A magnetic base allows the MOBL-5 to be attached
to any steel surface, such as an automobile or truck cab.
Rooftop installations give several advantages:
- They generally increase the
range of the antenna.
- There are likely to be less
obstacles in the path.
- Height above the ground gives
improved performance.
- Multipath problems resulting
from reflections from buildings, trees and variations in terrain are reduced
to a minimum.
OMNI-8
The OMNI-8, 8-dBi, omni-directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET PRO.11 D Model Bridges and DS.11
Outdoor Bridges. It is used for outdoor, multipoint links that need 360
degree dispersion pattern and provides 360 degree horizontal/13 degree
vertical transmission.
Uni-9
The UNI-9, 9 dBi, directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET PRO.11 D Model Bridges and DS.11
Outdoor Bridges. It is primarily designed for short range outdoor use and
provides 75 degree horizontal/60 degree vertical transmission.
UNI-11
The UNI-11, 11 dBi, directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET PRO.11 D Model Bridges and DS.11
Outdoor Bridges. It is primarily designed for use by ISPs, school districts,
and campus area networks since it is capable of transmitting at longer
distances with a very wide dispersion pattern and provides 75 degree horizontal/28
degree vertical transmission.
UNI-13
The UNI-13, 13 dBi, directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET PRO.11 D Model Bridges and DS.11
Outdoor Bridges. It is primarily designed for medium range transmission
from a remote site to a mulitpoint link and provides 46 degree horizontal/28
degree vertical transmission.
UNI-16
The UNI-16, 16 dBi, directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET PRO.11 D Model Bridges and DS.11
Outdoor Bridges. It is primarily designed for medium to long range transmission
from a remote site to a mulitpoint link. It is ideal for applications requiring
low profile, high gain antennas and provides 28 degree horizontal/28 degree
vertical transmission.
UNI-24
The UNI-24, 24 dBi, directional
antenna can be used with the BreezeNET PRO.11 D Model Bridges and DS.11
Outdoor Bridges. It is primarily designed for long range, outdoor point-to-point
links and can achieve ranges of up to eight miles with the PRO.11 D models,
and 15 miles with the DS.11 bridges, using UNI-24s at both ends of the
link (can be extended with amplifiers). It provides a six degree horizontal/10 degree
vertical transmission.
Antenna Alignment
Uni-8 & Uni-9 Antenna Alignment is generally sufficient
to align this antenna "by eye" in the general direction of the remote
site. The wide beamwidth of this antenna does not usually require finely
tuned alignment. Position this antenna vertically in its mounting housing
on a wall or a window.
Uni-11, Uni-13, Uni-16 & Uni-24 Antenna Alignment
All these rooftop antennas
require fine tuning using the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication)
test which will be done by Wireless Internet Services when setup.
