Not connecting?:

SVIdaho.net prides itself in the very limited amount down time our internet access provides. Compared to the national average of ISP's SVIdaho.net is one of the few companies well above the average. If you are having a problem getting your internet connected here is a checklist of possible errors:

  • username and password entered incorrectly (they are case sensitive, everything must be lowercase)
  • phone line has become disconnected from the computer or wall
  • modem card has gone bad
  • account has become inactive
  • phone line problem
  • the list could go on and on
If your computer does not connect to the internet right away, please take note of where the process stops at. Realizing how far your computer gets in the connection process or viewing the error prompt will allow you to quickly trouble shoot and get online.

error: computer cannot find dial tone
remedy: check phone line, phone jack, and modem

error: line busy or server not responding
remedy: wait a few minutes and try again. Are lines are rarely down and service is usually done at night when the fewest number of users will be effected.

error: invalid username or password
remedy: double/triple check that you typed it correctly, all lowercase no spaces. You can also delete your internet connection and set up the account again. This will help clear the computers cashe memory if a bad username and password has been saved.

error: you believe our service is down
remedy: before you call to ask if the service is down, you can do a quick check of your own. On a regular phone physically dial the dial-up number of 727-5060. If you hear the normal "computer screeching" noise you will know are service is up and running.

Please take a moment to try and trouble shoot connection problems before you call to ask if the service is down. On average 99% of the time a person cannot connect the problem could have been quickly identified and corrected in less time than it takes to call us.
